"I was told I'm not a candidate for Invisalign."

Hi Everyone,

I’m Heather Carpenter, the consultant for Incredible Smiles. One of the most common questions I am presented with is “Am I a good candidate for Invisalign? Invisalign is a form of invisible braces. This can be a tricky question to answer considering that all dentists have different methods of treatment. I have been told countless times by our guests (yes, we call patients guests) that they were told by their orthodontist or general dentist that Invisalign isn’t an option for them. When they come to our office, we find that in fact they would get amazing results from Invisalign.

Sometimes it depends on what that person feels like they want to accomplish and sometimes it’s just a difference of technique and experience on our part. As dental professionals we need to step back and really focus on what the guest is asking for as far as long term results. You would be amazed at how many people just want a few teeth moved or aligned to create a smile they are happy with. A dental professional may look at their mouth and suggest 3-5 years of metal braces to address other issues that are not important for that individual. There are a few techniques and appliances that can be used in conjunction with Invisalign to create the desired results as well. When you visit a full service dental office, such as Incredible Smiles, that focuses on cosmetic dentistry you are more likely to obtain a result that is not only functional but aesthetically pleasing. Techniques such as bonding, tooth shaping, gum tissue re-contouring, teethwhitening, and even porcelain veneers are just some of the things we can provide to enhance a smile after Invisalign.

In short, if you have been told in the past that Invisalign was not an option for you, consider a consultation at Incredible Smiles and you might be surprised to find out that you are the perfect candidate!
